EXCELing in Fitness in the Fifth Grade

Fifth graders are going to be EXCELing in fitness from October until April. The fifth graders are collecting data in their gym class and using that data in their Excel spreadsheet lessons with Mr. Metiva and Mrs. Mahar. Once a month, fifth graders will be testing sit-ups for one minute and push ups for 30 seconds. They will then be taking their data to use in a spreadsheet which they are working with in the computer lab with their classroom teachers. All sit-up test scores will count toward their President's Challenge fitness test. At the conclusion of the seven month data collection, the highest score will count toward their fitness test.

Jump Rope Club

The 2009-10 Woodcrest Jump Rope Club will start Monday, October 19 at 7:30 in the Woodcrest gym.
We will begin with skills development and skills testing. Students will try to complete skills at three levels; beginning, intermediate and advanced. When we have finished the skills testing, we will continue our jump rope program with the development of our jump rope team performance.
As this is to be on a drop-in basis only, students are welcome to attend when their schedule permits. Students interested in participating are to report directly to the gym and stay in the gym until 8:37 am.
Each child must have a signed permission slip in order to participate.
I am looking forward to another fun and exciting jump rope club.
